Musical Animal Friends: Rutgers Community Arts ACCESS New Brunswick

Ulysses Quartet presents a fun, interactive show introducing young listeners from New Brunswick schools to animal sounds and characters in a variety of music from different time periods and styles through a string quartet performance. Students will be guided through musical concepts and invited to use their imaginations as they listen. There will be a short Q & A where students will be able to ask questions. Performance is only 45 minutes and designed for young listeners, recommended for grades K-3.

This performance is presented free of charge by the Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts as part of Community Arts ACCESS New Brunswick.

Lincoln Center Presents- Declaration: Songs of Democracy, Voices of Hope

What does it mean to be an American today? That is the question posed by the curator, pianist and producer Lara Downes in Declaration: Songs of Democracy, Voices of Hope, featuring world premieres by three major composers. Valerie Coleman presents Life, a work for solo piano; Arturo O'Farrill offers the Liberty; and Christopher Tin closes with The Pursuit of Happiness. These latter two compositions are performed by the American Composers Orchestra, under the baton of Eric Jacobsen, with the aid of a select collective of artists and bands who represent a wide range of the American experience. Guests will include jazz bassist Christian McBride, vocalists Kurt Elling and Aoife O’Donovan.
